ANDREW MEZVINSKY

Andrew Margolies Mezvinsky was born 1982, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and studied painting at the Glasgow School of Fine Arts. He lives and works in Vienna since 2009. In his artwork he uses a huge variety of different techniques such as india ink, graphite, oil, pastel, collages and indian dyeing technique, which he combines with all kind of different materials.

In his short career his work has already been shown in several solo- and group exhibtions from Russia, over Slovenia, Great Britain, Austria, India, Mongolia, and the U.S.A.

In 2005 he was represented as an artist at the Biennale di Venezia in Italy and in 2007 at the Art Basel in Switzerland. From 2009 until his death Mezvinsky worked as an assistant to the late Franz West.

Andrew M Mezvinsky’s works have been exhibit in many museums and galleries around the world. His art is part of the Hirshhorn Collection in Washington DC, the Brooklyn Art Library in New York, the Brot Kunsthallein Vienna, the Tiroler Landesmuseum Ferdinandeum in Innsbruck, the Jewish Museum in Vienna and the Zanabaazar Museum in Mongolia as from private collectors (et al.: Jane Holzer, Ernst Hilger, Albert BakerKnolle, Jim Lambie, Franz West, and Hainz Collection, Vienna).

Under his direction the musical divertimento „Il Fazzoletto“ celebrated its premiere at the Performance Art Institut in San Francisco in October 2011. In 2013 Andrew M Mezvinsky’s installation  „A Good Day“ was shown at the Jewish Museum in Vienna.

In November 2014, Impart contemporary Showroom celebrated its first Vernissage with Mezvinsky’s solo exhibition “Insomnia in a Sea of Doubt” .

In 2015 his video animation „Finding Frida: Removing Residue With Respectful Silence“ was presented as part of the exhibition „Kahlo, Rivera + Mexican Modern Art“ at the NSU Art Museum Fort Lauderdale.
