RONALD KODRITSCH’S EXHIBITION “DER LETZTE MALER – THE LAST PAINTER”

Kodritsch loves to play with clichés, words, self irony, as well as provocation and does so in a most light-footed way. His Nudes  – empty female silhouettes, which – like Pygmalion – seem to be waiting to be colored and brought to life by the easel attached next to them; his Bastards – dogs with colorful wigs, who gaze at the beholder with puppy dog eyes. Kodritsch’s artwork interacts with the viewer in a mostly humorous way. At the same time his art servers as an instrument for criticism and exposure of our own society’s concepts. The old painter’s ghost glances from the canvas at us, friendly and wisely, with his empty, luminous eyes and his long beard.

“In 2009 Kodritsch started to paint socks. Nobody knows why.”
Roman Grabner

Is the art of painting dead as a ghost? The often evokes passing of painting – for Kodritsch just an old joke.
